ITT Standard heat exchanger manuals & cross-reference center
Manuals, product literature, and nameplate identification help. Cross-reference any legacy model to its current Standard Xchange equivalent.
Need the manual for an ITT Standard heat exchanger — or for the American Standard unit that came before it, or the Standard Xchange model that replaced it? This page collects installation, operation & maintenance (IOM) literature for all three eras of the same product lines, shows you how to decode the nameplate when the paperwork is long gone, and turns whatever you find into a cross-reference quote if the unit itself is due for replacement.
ITT Standard & Standard Xchange manual library
Each IOM covers the numbers you most often need mid-job: assembly and gasket torque specs, recommended spare parts, and service intervals for your model. If you only need one figure fast — a bolt torque, a gasket part number — ask and you'll get the relevant page, not a 40-page PDF to dig through.
Don't see your model listed? Ask anyway. Between the files kept here and the factory's archives, most legacy ITT Standard documentation can be tracked down.

How to read ITT Standard nomenclature on the nameplate
Every unit carries a nameplate with the model designation, size code, pass count, serial number, and design pressures and temperatures. ITT Standard nomenclature is consistent across the decades: the model designation tells you the product family (BCF, SSCF, SX2000...), the size code gives you shell diameter and length, and the serial number lets the factory pull your unit's original build record. A clear photo of your nameplate is all it takes to start an identification.
Nameplate corroded or unreadable? You can still identify the unit. Measure the shell diameter and length, count the bolt pattern on the bonnet, note the connection sizes and orientation, and photograph the whole unit. That's normally enough to pin down the family and size.
Cross-reference a legacy ITT Standard model to current production
If your search for a manual started because the unit itself is failing, the nameplate data you just gathered is exactly what a cross-reference needs:
- Send your nameplate data — model, size, passes, serial.
- Your unit gets matched to current Standard Xchange production (or the closest thermal/dimensional equivalent if the model was discontinued).
- You get a quote with price and lead time — usually the same business day.
This works for American Standard, ITT Standard, and early Standard Xchange nameplates alike, because the model families carried through each brand change. Brand history →
Already know the unit is past saving? Skip straight to a cross-reference quote and attach your nameplate photo.
Replacing a lost ITT Standard heat exchanger manual
Usually possible. Because the designs carried through the brand changes, current Standard Xchange IOMs apply directly to most ITT Standard units still in service. For discontinued models, legacy literature or the equivalent current document can often be located — and where it can't, the nameplate data above is enough to recover the specs that matter for installation and maintenance.
Who maintains this library
This documentation center is maintained by Southgate Process Equipment, an authorized Standard Xchange distributor for more than 25 years — not by ITT Inc. or Xylem. That distributor relationship is what makes factory build records, current IOMs, and legacy literature reachable when your own paperwork is gone.
Need a replacement or a cross-reference?
Send us what's on your nameplate — model and serial number — and we'll match it to the current Standard Xchange equivalent, check stock, and quote it. Most stock units ship fast.
